GovFin supports the rights that apply to personal information under South African law. This page explains what you can request and how. Final wording remains subject to qualified legal review.
Access
You may ask GovFin to confirm whether it holds personal information about you and to provide access to it, subject to another person's rights, confidentiality duties and legal limits.
Correction
You may request correction of information you believe is inaccurate, misleading or incomplete. Where a correction affects a completed verification, the record and any affected report are handled through a controlled process.
Objection
You may object to certain processing. Where an objection is upheld, GovFin stops the affected processing unless a lawful basis requires it to continue.
Deletion
You may ask for deletion where information is no longer required. Some records must be retained for accounting, audit, dispute or legal-hold reasons and cannot be deleted while those obligations apply.
Verification disputes
If you believe a verification outcome is wrong, you may raise a dispute with supporting information. Material findings are reviewed by a person, and a flagged item is never treated as an automatic decision.
How to make a request
Use the protected data-rights intake to open a controlled review without uploading identity documents. To protect your information, GovFin may need to confirm your identity before acting. Do not send identity documents by ordinary email — wait for an approved secure request.
